It may have been a cold, cold morning at two Rivers Park for the 1st Annual Aspire Christian Academy 5K, but the students and runners enthusiasm quickly brought warmth to the whole event! The turnout was nothing short of amazing and the atmosphere of our community helping a greater cause, made everyone feel like extended family!

Aspire Christian Academy is a 501 (c) (3) private school that serves “Gifted and bright students who learn differently!” The school is raising money to provide more room and services for our students and to be able to reach out and help more students and families in the community.

One of our many wonderful sponsors was “Go Running” who made sure the distance of the 5K was correct, supplied the official starting gate and provided the professional timer, so our community of competitive runners would be able to track and record their results for points and future racing events nationally!

The first place finisher was Lauren Gonzalez. Our second place finisher was Blake Fletcher and third place went to Cole Bennett! But we’d have to say the competitors who took home the prizes were the students and the families of Aspire Christian Academy. The students actually completed a marathon by finishing this race! They have been walking and running daily around their school since summer and this last leg of their journey brought them to complete their 25 miles!

Below are just a few of the hundreds of pictures from the race we‘d like to share with you and the amazing sponsors who supplied everything from water and snacks to the awards podium! Our teachers and therapists are so excited about the success of this event; they are already planning for next year! Thank you again to all of you that donated time, money and supplies to our student’s event. Because of you, our students will be able to run to a future of greater success and self-esteem!
